We all love a dessert at the end of the evening, but most desserts are packed with sugar, leaving you unsatisfied and craving more.
This was me—I quickly gained weight from indulging in ice cream, sweets, and biscuits. Realising this had to stop if I wanted to feel confident in my body, I sought out healthier dessert alternatives, especially ones involving chocolate.
I discovered a delicious and easy-to-make chocolate mousse recipe, perfect for batch-making and freezer storage.
This healthy chocolate mousse uses bananas instead of eggs, has no added sugar, and includes vanilla essence for extra flavour. It's a satisfying treat that's both child-friendly and easy to make.

Chocolate Mousse bites
Ingredients Needed:
2 ripe medium-sized bananas
86g of your choice of yoghurt (fat-free Greek yoghurt, coconut yoghurt, or plant-based alternatives)
8g of cocoa powder (avoid hot chocolate powder)
100g of dark chocolate (70% cocoa is ideal)
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Method
Lay out 16 silicone cupcake cases on a baking tray.
Mash the bananas in a bowl with a fork.
Mix the yoghurt, cocoa powder, and vanilla essence with the bananas.
Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave: start with 45 seconds, stir, then continue in 20-second intervals until smooth.
Quickly stir the melted chocolate into the banana mixture.
Spoon the mixture into the silicone cases, distributing evenly.
Freeze for 2-3 hours until set.
Once frozen, remove the mousse bites from the silicone cases and store them in an airtight container in the freezer. They melt quickly if left out, so keep them chilled until ready to serve. These bites are delicious paired with raspberries, strawberries, or your favourite fruit.
